The R.O.Y.A.L Project’s mission is to provide a safe and encouraging environment for Black teen girls to feel seen, valued, and empowered. Our goal is to remind them of their greatness, to instill a sense of cultural pride and to celebrate their unique identity. By participating in the program, they can also develop a strong sense of self-worth, confidence, and leadership skills.
Our goal is to dismantle the stereotypes that Black teenage girls often face. These stereotypes include being aggressive, having a bad attitude, and engaging in illegal activities. These stereotypes are both harmful and inaccurate. We must challenge and dismantle such stereotypes and recognize Black teenage girls' diverse experiences and individuality.
There is no doubt that Black teenage girls have their own unique personalities, talents, and ambitions. They CAN achieve academic excellence, engage in positive relationships, and contribute positively to their school and community.
The R.O.Y.A.L Project is intended to empower and uplift Black girls in the 9th-11th grade (8th grade girls upon request) by empowering their unique voices. The program fosters a positive school culture and contributes to academic success for students. The R.O.Y.A.L Project is dedicated to providing these young girls with the tools they need to thrive in a society where their voices are often marginalized.
The Royal Project uses a group-centered approach that’s proven effective for improving attendance and engagement among students. By focusing on empowerment, building strong peer support, and using culturally responsive strategies, we help students feel connected and motivated to show up and participate. Life skills are woven into every session, supporting not just academic success but personal growth and confidence, too.
